Many chimneys over the last few years have suffered from water and ice damage.  Solving those water related problems starts with proper diagnosis of where the leaks originate.  Water and ice damage can be caused by improper venting of gas appliances, flashing leaks, mortar and brick water absorption, poor or missing crowns, or missing chimney caps.
